Objectivies and Approach

This collaboration, concerning problems in computer algebra, focuses on two topics: the construction of algebraic identities expressing the incompatibility of a system of sign conditions on a family of polynomials, and the study of local algebra using methods such as Mora's tangent-cone algorithm. In the first topic, the collaboration intends to proceed by improving the efficiency of Lombardi's algorithm. The second topic is to be approached from the point of view of comparing tangent-cone based methods for computing idempotents to some of the more recently developed algorithms.
