This collaboration will allow ARIAL - la groupe Africaine de Recherche en Ingénierie Avancée de Logiciels - to continue to expand on previous collaborations with their European partners in the domain of software engineering. The emphasis will be on real time systems, embedded software and process modelling, as well as on applications of the object oriented paradigm.
The cooperation has led to two PhDs and the development of a prototype of the Mendel system, an Object Oriented process centered environment which emphasises process evolution support.
The groups in France and Burkina Faso have organised a series of workshops on the Information Society and Development. The resulting reports were presented at the G7 Information Society and Development conference which was held in Midrand in May 1996.
Twelve missions have been conducted to Ouagadougou to teach at the Ecole Supérieure d'Informatique and to organise research. Two Burkina Faso students have prepared their PhDs in Nancy, and will defend them in 1996. The "Conférence Africaine de Recherche en Informatique" which was held in OUAGADOUGOU in October 94, was chaired by Tankoano of the Burkina Faso group and was attended by all members of ARIAL.
