The objective of this concerted action is to build a firm basis for scientific and technical collaboration between research groups from Eastern Europe and the European Union in the area of microelectronics and signal processing. The action will identify challenging topics in the domain of design methodologies where significant technical advance may be required. The action will be driven by industrial objectives.
The action will take the form of:
Up to July 1996, BENEFIT carried out and supported four workshops that took place in Slovakia, Latvia, Russia and Bulgaria, as well as two summer schools that were held in Poland and Czech Republic.
In conjunction with events organised by BENEFIT, proceedings and lecture volumes were prepared.
The Information Distribution Network (IDN) offers information on BENEFIT related projects, on programmes of the EU on the WWW ( http://www.dlr.de/BENEFIT/) and by electronic mail (E-Mail News, up to July 1996 more than 1000 subscribers).
