The aim of this project is to establish links between East and West European laboratories that are active in microsystems technology (MST) by enabling direct bilateral contacts between Eastern and Western scientists active in MST and by disseminating information on the capabilities of the East European MST community.
European links: The project builds on ESPRIT projects NEXUS (7217 and 20713), the Network of Excellence in Multifunctional Microsystems.
NEXUSEAST organised two successful workshops (Romania, October 1995; Poland, May 1996) on the potential of microsystems technology making East European scientists acquainted with the opportunities of this emerging field of technology.
To disseminate information on MST activities and capabilities in Eastern Europe, an almanac comprising detailed MST related information on 30 East European Laboratories in nine Central and East European countries was compiled and distributed to all NEXUS and NEXUSPAN partners (ca. 250 in total).
The activities of NEXUSEAST were periodically reported in the NEXUS newsletter.
The individual Eastern NEXUSEAST partners launched a variety of promising MST related East-West contacts supported by the project.
