an efficient shared memory programming model for distributed architectures consisting of workstation clusters or massively parallel processors

Objectives and Approach

The primary objectives are:

• implement DVSM system over Telmat TR7000 UNIX workstation clusters
• produce an optimised DVSM system for the CS-2 MPP system
• develop software strategies for performance enhancement
• define simple hardware support for fine-grain sharing in a DVSM system

In addition to the primary objectives there are related secondary objectives which will be achieved in the course of the project:

• create a benchmark suite of shared memory applications
• develop simulation tools for distributed cache design
• implement standard application interfaces to shared memory to ease porting
