Objectives

AICIME 2 aims to implement full-scale CIME solutions at four Portuguese demonstration-site SMEs, and to develop Union-wide dissemination mechanisms for the products, tools and methodologies developed during this work.

AICIME 2 aims to:

• develop the interfaces and customise the application software packages (ESPRIT products) in order to optimise the integrated AICIME architecture
• implement four demonstrator systems with specific needs requiring different approaches
• develop a RECIME (re-engineering and CIME) model supported by a user guide based on the experience acquired in the project
• develop dissemination tools and mechanisms to catalyse the establishment of similar actions elsewhere in Portugal and other regions of the Union (particularly in Germany).

The topics that the RECIME model will address include:

• manufacturing SMEs re-engineering methodology
• AICIME ESPRIT architecture
• implementation methodologies
• subsidiary approach for advanced technologies
• funding strategies
• regional technology networks.
