Objectives
This project will continue the work of OMI/STANDARDS in providing a framework for consensus on the necessary standards to facilitate the exploitation of the results of OMI and in providing a focal point for OMI programme management and coordination. Its objectives are to:
- continue the OMI/STANDARDS consensus mechanism across all OMI projects to agree standards to be adopted within OMI
- identify relevant emerging (world-wide) standards, and to co-ordinate between OMI projects so that the interest of the OMI are appropriately represented in corresponding standards definition activities
- identify requirements for new standards, to co-ordinate between OMI projects to ensure that these are developed, to continue the OMI/STANDARDS open review procedure to ensure widest applicability and support
- coordinate between OMI projects so that OMI standards are promulgated internationally
- establish a compliance infrastructure to enable independent certification of compliance with OMI standards (1995, then ongoing)
- determine the most effective business communications channels to assist the penetration of OMI into the most important industrial sectors
- demonstrate the feasibility of the ELI concept with a silicon demonstrator
- identify, define and demonstrate the interfaces needed to integrate the tools required for system design using OMI supercells
