Information and communication technologies now pervade daily life and in particular are leading to a profound transformation of working life. The usage rate of IT in all types of work is particularly high. Consequently, managers in public administration, industry and trade unions are increasingly concerned with quality of working life (QWL) issues.
To help in those situations, the QUALIT project aims to develop a decision support system (the QUALIT Tool) and a library of case studies (the Observatorium). These tools will be used for diagnostic purposes by the industrial partners, and for training purposes by all partners, and particularly by the General Workers Union in Denmark through courses for shop stewards.
The QUALIT Tool will help in all activities involved in analysing QWL in an organisation. The tool will be based on the successful results of project 5374, QLIS. The consortium includes three application providers, who will start using the first version of the QUALIT Tool within the first six months of the project; the case studies will cover the diagnostic and sale' uses.
The Observatorium will be a library of real case studies, with analyses and recommendations, rendered accessible via information search and retrieval tools.
