development of a Cathode Ray Tube addressed spatial light modulator

Objectives and Approach

This project complements and extends the work being undertaken in the NAOPIA II project (6676). The Cathode Ray Tube - Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Spatial Light Modulator (CRT-FLCSLM) to be developed can be used as an input medium for optical parallel image processing systems.

The device will be integrated into an existing incoherent image processing system and tested using concrete applications.

Through this project, several further areas of potential collaboration with the original NAOPIA consortium members have been identified.
