The objective of this action is to support and promote the use of CIME technologies and methods by Greek industry. This will be achieved by assisting the Greek CIME and wider scientific community in developing solutions and promoting their implementation in Greek industry; by improving the CIME R&D capacity in Greece through promoting cooperation between academe, research institutes and industry; and by encouraging users to adopt CIME technologies and become more familiar with CIM-OSA trends. Three projects have been selected within this framework: DELTA-CIME, IASON and CEME IG.
This project will focus on the food industry (DELTA SA) in its entirety (industrial controls, quality assurance and MRP II). In textiles (ETMA), only the industrial controls sub-project will be used as a pilot for the production of ETMA's viscose product line. A three-layer approach will be taken: architecture and infrastructure for DELTA-CIME, management and design of industrial enterprises, and mechatronics, robotics and sensing technologies.
The IASON project is designed to provide a means of diffusing CIME technology in the Greek Industrial Environment. The technological baseline is focused on selected ESPRIT projects addressing the domains of architectural modelling (CIM-OSA/VOICE I & II and GRAI technique), industrial networking (CNMA & DINAS-DOS), novel production management architectures (COSIMA & IMPACS), production management in the process industry (PROFIT and EPIC) as well as technological developments available in the consortium (CIMBAN prototype/product and IDEAL-CIM).
IASON focuses on the technologies of production management in the shop-floor utilising and establishing distributed architecture based on the concept of coordinating autonomous units (intelligent agents). The manufacturing domain covered by IASON covers a wide range of industries and in particular process industries, wood processing, the semi-process sector, electronics, construction sites and food processing. A complementary dissemination activity has also been designed.
The CEME IG project seeks to provide and develop a user friendly production and quality control system which is implemented in large manufacturing organizations in Greek industries. The CIM system that is going to be developed consists of locally distributed independent stations which are connected to a central unit. The proposed project aims at the development of several CIM components and their implementation in an integrated application to form the basic structure for future development. More specifically, we propose the development of systems for:
