Objectives

The objective of CONSENS is to develop a concurrent engineering system platform. This platform will include information sharing and document handling, configuration control, change management and release control, process control and team coordination, advanced engineering services, a product information archive, and application tools.

The approach will be to:

• draw up application and performance requirements and specifications
• build on existing work for electronics design integration to develop a concurrent engineering platform, developing the data administration required to manage and control the design to manufacture process
• identify the applications - including knowledge-based tools - necessary for the design and engineering of electromechanical products, and integrate them with the concurrent engineering platform.

Pilot demonstrations are foreseen in an electro-mechanical production enterprise and in a mechanical engineering application.
