Objectives

The objective of COMPASS WAS to develop user-friendly PC-based tools for use by an SME to monitor its performance through modelling its business and carrying out cost-benefit analyses of the range of possible modular CIM solutions that might be applied to improve business performance.

COMPASS built on the results of the CIM element configurator from project 5424, CIMPLE, and has developed of:

A computer-based training facility to help in the use and interpretation of the tools developed has also been devised.

COMPASS is being tested in a number of SME sites and the results compared with the recommendations of human experts. The project's results will be exploited through the sale of software products based on them, the sale of CIM systems formulated using the results, and through the improved consultancy advice offered by all the partners to their SME clients.
