Objectives

The objective of COMBI is to develop an information and knowledge system for the integration of design and engineering at the early stage of the building process. The project will include a common layer and attribute structure, an object-oriented product structure and a knowledge-based decision system.

The approach will be to:

• design an object-oriented product model
• design layer and attribute structures
• integrate structural analysis, dimensioning and CAD
• develop expert systems for the preliminary design of industrial buildings, soil condition analysis and foundation design, and design of structural reinforcements.
