The objective of ASSAN was to identify the specific requirements and future development strategies required for robotic vehicles in civil engineering work. In particular, it looked at an application area which entails condition of risk for an operator, using semi-autonomous, remotely controlled vehicles operating in an unstructured, dynamically changing environment. A sanitary land-fill site is a typical example of such an environment.
The specific tasks to be undertaken included:
A workshop has been held on "mobile robotics for civil engineering works".
